How sleep makes you more smart and creative

















We all know that human brain need more sleep than what everybody else says. And we have also learned the fact that sleep improves our mood, helps us to learn more, clear out toxic information from brain, increases concentration power and so on.

While most people think sleeping is an activity of brain, just like how we have a “sleep mode” on our computer which gives some rest to the system. People tend to think that once your brain is on sleep mode, it does nothing productive. But this is completely incorrect.

Sleep enhances increase performance and learning. And surprisingly, sleep also improves the ability to be more creative than what you are currently.

Sleep helps the brain to build a connection for unrelated ideas and memories. Accordingly to the research at Harvard, people who sleep well are more likely to discover connections among distantly related ideas.

Business Approach towards Sleep

We have already started to see the shift where more and more businesses are encouraging employees to take a quick nap at work. Companies like Google, have already installed EnergyPods, which are egglike hoods that block light and sound, and allow employees to take naps at work. Similarly, other companies like Cisco Systems and P&G are also following the same approach.

Thanks to the recent studies and advancement in science, which helped us to uncover that sleep is imperative in order to reach new insights and be able to get creative solutions to odd problems.

In order words, you are more likely to be creative and find solutions to problems which were seeing so difficult in the first place.

Testing on Myself

I have done some of these experiements on myself and found that when I tend to get proper sleep, I be more creative and active the following day. Not just that, I also try to more creative because I would have been good mood because of the sleep.

On the other side, there are also lot of days when I don't get proper sleep and thus I land into so many problems including being upset, getting angry on others, going into negative zone and so on.

Forget about being creative on the first place by sleeping well. Creativity comes later. But there are several other benefits which you get when you sleep well and give ample rest to your brain.

Are you sleeping enough?

Generally speaking, most adults needs between six to eight hours of sleep everyday. But there can be exceptions here. Some people are good with five hours, while rest of them might need upto 10 hours.

However, some people have also been talking if you are sleeping more than eight hours, you are probably asking for more problems in life. I don’t think so.

Just remember one good rule of thumb.

“When you wake up and if you are still tired, you probably haven’t got good sleep.”

Also remember, that at times during illness and emotional stress, you would probably require more sleep than usual and that’s completely fine.
