Why Intelligent people have fewer friends

Why Intelligent people have fewer friends

Friendship and relationships are extremely important for our survival. They are the ones which provides us support, and help us to cross difficult times in our lives. They give us sense of connection and they can even teach us some good skills which would be important for us.

We all needs friends, then why do intelligent people have only less friends?

London school of economics decided to a study on this to measure the level of happiness on every individual when they socialize and when they are left alone. The research concluded saying that people with lower to average IQ were more happier and were socializing with their friends regularly and had great number of friends. On the contrary, people with high level of IQ felt happier when they were left alone and the amount of happiness which they got from their friends was very little.

Smart people find it more interesting when they spend time alone, as they consider that to be important to them. This means that they find more pleasure in doing activities which gives them result, i.e. they are result oriented. Intelligent people see socializing as a sign of distractions, which affects their goals. Not just that, intelligent people look how people waste a lot of time in socializing when they could use this time to do something which is really useful for their future.

However, just to be clear, this doesn’t mean that high IQ people doesn’t value friendship and relationships. They do and that’s why they are more selective in choosing whom they would want to spend their time and life with.

Following are some more addon reasons which I have realized lately about smart people:

--> They tend to commit themselves to work most of the time and thus have very less time for friendship.

--> They have extremely strong views about certain things, which not everybody would appreciate.

--> They have low level of patience when it comes to stupidity.

--> They are extremely busy in their own world and have very less time to do gossips and small talks.

--> They can easily spot people when they try to be fake, and they are seriously allergic to it.

--> They try to have less drama in their life.

--> They have already made their friends whom they think are very loyal, and nobody else can match up to them.

--> They believe that most people are scary from them and thus they tend to stay away.

I have written some more interesting articles related to being intelligent - why intelligent have tough time in relationships, why intelligent people spend more time alone and why intelligent people can’t find happiness easily.
